• Rhonda Currie is currently a Fundraising Director for the Illinois Coalition for Community Services (ICCS) where she is the first Director in this position for ICCS.  She has twelve years of professional experience working with organizations and residents in Kankakee, Illinois.  During this time, she has played a key role in the planning and implementation of many events such as:  Man Up, Pretty Tough, Teen Townhalls, Job Readiness Workshops, Back to School Bashes, Youth Mock Police Stops & Police Stops, National Youth Violence Prevention Weeks, and Bike Against Violence.  She is a very active board member of Kankakee United, Kankakee Forgives, and Southwestern Illinois National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI).  Rhonda also assists in the planning and facilitation of Mayor Chris Curtis’ Youth Advisory Committee.  She supervises two part-time staff members who are the local day-to-day Field Representatives in Kankakee, Madison, and St. Clair Counties.   Rhonda holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s Degree from Olivet Nazarene University. She began her professional career in Champaign with the Girl Scouts Green Meadows Council now entitled Girl Scouts of Central Illinois (GSCI). While at GSCI, Rhonda specialized in outreach with youth, collaboration with community partners, and reporting. Her interest in helping her community led Rhonda back to her hometown of Kankakee, IL where she served in various roles such as Community Organizer, Community Youth Worker, Outreach Specialist, Field Representative, and Field Supervisor since 2013.  During this time, Rhonda also served as a fundraiser for ICCS through various efforts.  In 2024, Rhonda was awarded the Inaugural Woman of the Year by Delta Alpha Omicron Zeta’s chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, incorporated for her work in Madison County, Illinois.  Rhonda’s enthusiasm and efforts in various communities has been seen by many and has aided in maintaining relationships with the communities that ICCS serves.
