The mission of Kankakee United is to reduce gun violence involving African-American boys and men under 25 years of age in Kankakee by uniting community resources to increase neighborhood engagement, address trauma related concerns, and remove employment barriers.

Stop The Bleed Save a Life

Kankakee United is hosting a life-saving workshop on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Riverside Healthcare Center, 350 N. Wall St., Kankakee, IL 60901.

Back to School Bash

We are thrilled to announce that our Back 2 School event was a tremendous success, with over 200 participants joining us! We couldn't have done it without the incredible support of our community partners.

Braid and Cut-A-Thon

Kankakee United is thrilled to share that our "Fresh Look Braid and Cut A-Thon" was a huge success! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the amazing braiders and barbers who generously provided their services to the community’s youth for free. 

National League of Cities

OVP Director Johnnie Graham had the privilege to speak at the National League of Cities conference on Wednesday morning in Chicago. It was an honor to share insights and connect with leaders from across the nation.


Bike Against Violence

Our community came together for a powerful and moving bicycle ride through the streets of Kankakee. We rode as one, united in our stand against gun violence. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event. Let's keep the momentum going and continue to work towards a future free from gun violence. Together, we can make a difference.

Youth Palooza

Kankakee United partnered with the Kankakee School District for the annual Youth Palooza, and the event was a resounding success! A huge thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported this fantastic event. Stay tuned for more exciting events and initiatives as we continue to work together to strengthen our community!

Gaming Tournament

Dozens of teenage gamers came out to Kankakee High School for the event. The youngsters received a message about violence prevention from our partners. We want to thank our partners for collaborating on this event. Kankakee School District 111, Illinois Coalition of Community Services, Harbor House, Kankakee United, Kankakee Forgives, KCSA Justice Academy! "Switch it up Gaming" did a phenomenal job facilitating the event.
